Boulder is forty miles from the International Airport in Denver and also has a local airport. To get to Boulder, it is best to fly into Denver International Airport (DIA), which is located approximately 45 minutes away from Boulder. In order to get to Boulder from DIA, take the RTD AB bus, which costs $10.00 (pay exact amount on the bus) and leaves from the WEST side of DIA, level 5, island 5, once an hour, roughly 15 or 20 mins after the hour. Inquire at the RTD booth for precise times. For more details check at the RTD booth or see http://www.rtd-denver.com/skyRide/ or http://www.yellowtrans.com/shuttle.html . RTD buses run many routes so it is important that you take the AB route. Another mode of transportation between DIA and Boulder is the Supershuttle (phone: 303-227-0000 or web http://www.supershuttle.com/htm/cities/dia.htm ), which provides door-to-door service and also leaves DIA every hour.
Boulder has a very extensive bus system. If you would like to visit a location beyond the vicinity of campus, visit http://rtd-denver.com/ for bus route information.
Taxis/Cab: Call
YellowCab at 303-777-7777. Because
of the long distance to Boulder, cab service is expensive.
The fixed rate is ~ $65 one-way, depending on location.
Rental Car: Visit web pages of car rental companies. Note that some car rental counters may close in mid-evening (9:00pm), so you need to check for closing time when making reservations.

Boulder enjoys a mild climate, with approximately 300 sunny days per year and some of the most stunning mountain scenery in the United States. The elevation of Boulder is approximately one mile above sea level. There are innumerable opportunities for outdoor recreation in Boulder and 12-13 thousand foot peaks less than 20 miles away from Boulder. There are also many cultural activities in Boulder, with cafes and bookstores at every corner of its streets. University of Colorado at Boulder has a beautiful campus, at a height of 5400 feet, located at the foot of the Rocky Mountains. The weather during August is usually very pleasant, with a low humidity; the average high temperature is in the 80's (Fahrenheit) while the average low temperature is in the 50's.
Boulder and its surroundings offer a large spectrum of first rate outdoor recreational activities, which include hiking, mountain biking, running, rock and ice climbing, white water rafting, fishing, bird watching, outdoor concerts, and numerous local microbreweries. Chautauqua Park, an area right in front of the Flat Irons mountains (the logo appearing in most photos of Boulder), south-west of campus, is a must-visit park with a huge selection of trailheads, best heading to Green and Bear mountains. Another attraction, closer to campus is the Creek path, (just north, down hill of Duane Physics building), which runs along the Boulder Creek from the foothills, several miles west of town, to the prairie, several miles east. Pearl Street Walking Mall, located downtown Boulder, approximately 0.5 mile north of campus is also a must place to visit and to hang out in the evenings. In the end of conference, the participants will visit the Rocky Mountain National Park, approximately 50 miles north-west of Boulder. Visa Information
The U.S. has recently implemented strict visa policies to increase security for our citizens and visitors. It will probably take you longer to get a visa than it used to, and you should apply well in advance of your departure date. For details that may apply specifically to your country, see information posted by your nearest U.S. consulate or embassy: http://www.usembassy.gov/
Some US consulates are requiring a printed invitation on the conference/University letterhead and with an original signature as part of the visa application. The Organizing Committee of LC2CAM will provide such letters on request. Please contact Annett BAUMGARTNER at 303-492-1515 or Annett.Baumgartner@Colorado.edu if you need an invitation letter. Miscellaneous Information
Colorado is home to some of the most beautiful mountains in the country and we hope you enjoy your visit. The average altitude at Keystone is over 9,000 ft (2,700 m), a significant change for those used to lower elevations. You may notice shortness of breath and an increased heart rate, especially when being physically active. The best ways to minimize the effects of altitude are to drink lots of water and to avoid overexertion. Excess consumption of alcohol exacerbates the effects of high altitude.
Ultraviolet rays from the sun are intense at high altitude. It is recommended that you use an effective sunblock (protection factor of 15 or more) when out of doors, and wear sunglasses with UV protection, even on cloudy or overcast days.
In case of emergencies, call 911 for police, fire department, and ambulance.
It is customary to tip 15% to restaurant wait-staff and to bartenders. If you have a large party, usually a group of 8 or more, gratuities may automatically be included in the bill. Ask if you are unsure. Of course, this is discretionary, and you should leave as much as you feel comfortable.
Boulder's Mountain Time is 7 hours behind Greenwich Mean Time; 8 am in Colorado is 3 pm in London.
